Hello out there!

Ruff, ruff!

Hello and welcome to my blog. After hanging up my reporter's hat a few years ago, I have been inspired to write again thanks to my mischievous menagerie of pets, which I affectionately call "Bindi's herd".

Bindi is an Australian cattle dog mix whom I rescued about five years ago from a kill shelter. Australian cattle dogs, or heelers, were bred to rustle up cattle or sheep. They need to be independent, stubborn, and intelligent to master their herd. Well, for my Bindi, I don't have any sheep or cows for her to boss around or keep in line. She has a much different type of herd.

- Sparta, a 10-year-old cat whose turning into an old man
- Castiel, a 2-year-old orange tabby cat I met on the job
- Maleficent, an evil little 11-month-old domestic longhaired cat
- Hiddleston, a chinchilla with an affinity for Cheerios
- Chili Pepper, a rescue chinchilla with a screw loose
- Tucker, the stray cat who adopted all of us without asking
- Makoa, a Polish rabbit with no fear
- and Butter Stick, a curvy, round-bottomed Guinea pig with a heart of gold

Then there's me. Honestly, I just try to keep up! Along with my full-time job, making sure that each of these guys gets my love and attention is a nonstop adventure in life lessons, true love, respect, and budget balance. And on top of all of that, sometimes, we are joined by a rambunctious, chew-monster lab/pit bull mix and an un-housebroken chihuahua with a nonstop wagging tail.

We hope you join us on our adventures, learn from our mistakes, laugh with our messes, and become part of the herd!
